It does make very much sense considering humanity's history (that of living in small tribes in constant war with other tribes and struggling *within* them to reach the highest position in social, material, sexual and so on standing) that displaying dominance and warrior-strength through being abusive/bullying, slaughtering people, having hordes of females, being sexually aggressive etc will always be seen as attractive no matter the moral considerations. But really, I don't see why the disgust and fear for evil would have to be not genuine just because people are very attracted to evil deeds at the same time. We're capable of having very bipolar emotions at the same time, love/hate etc.
But is it really >evil< in itself people are attracted to to begin with, rather than the display dominance it so easily provides? People are hardly attracted to some guy displaying evil with a complete lack of dominance like say, a muttering nerd who listens to black metal, tries but fails to insult people on the internet and masturbates to lolicon rape hentai. However, if alpha-male warrior dominance somehow manages to justify itself as *good*, it'll be even more attractive than if it's just seen as evil, because that bitter taste of disgust and guilt that comes with evil will be gone and replaced with a heartwarming rush, fulfilling the much less significant human desire than that of feeling dominant yet still existing; that of feeling like a good person.
Just think of how charismatic rebel leaders such as Che are. He violently slaughtered thousands of people, but did it for a cause, and ended up having an almost religious cult which is still alive and well today, and beyond any person who've just played on how cold they are. And consider the growing popularity of anti-heroes [''jerkass with a heart of gold''] with dominating, warrior-like mentality but whose actions are in the end considered good. Those heroes usually exceeds their villains in attraction power.
So to be popular go out and humiliate, beat up, rape and rob as many people you can but only because you've got a heart of gold. You were planning to give the money to Save The Children, after all.
